Well, that was a Good Un…probably the best Mull Rally I’ve been to in any capacity.

Friday – shakedown was on a stretch of dis-used tarmac near Fishnish and it was a boneshaking mile and a bit.

Friday night saw us on mid-point at Ulva school. At the end of the stage we did the longest suspend of a Peugeot with a missing front hub, it must have been 8 or 9 miles out to the triangle on open roads.

Saturday afternoon we were on the start line on the Calgary Steps. Awesome location. Nothing to do on our sector, but pulled a marshals Discovery out of a bog on the Hill Road and then helped Galloway Recovery with a bent Evo on its roof down a rocky bank.

That left little time to run over to Tobermory for the evenings stage which started in the town centre on the waterfront. A great location. When sweeping we took on one of Piper 9’s jobs to let him get over to his next stage – winching a beached MKII down a grass slope and over a ditch on the Mishnish hairpins. The guy did a great job of stuffing it up there whilst going uphill! This was also executed on open roads.

First ferry from Lochaline on Sunday and we were home by 2pm. A great week on Mull, with the Colin McRae to start it all and Mull Rally to finish.
